MOTTA LIVING... It's our new site ♥ ♥

Summer calls for Alfresco dining, which is so much more than just grabbing a thrown together plate of food and sitting outside. Why not make your meal experience as beautiful as the warm, summer evenings? By following a few simple steps, and using some beautiful home accessories, Alfresco dining can become the elegant, yet relaxed affair that it should be.

Garden Dining

Chic and comfortable seating is required to set the scene, as well as rustic dining tables to create a vintage feel. A long, wooden table with benches either side would create a wonderful dinner party setting (great for kids’ birthdays!). alternatively, you could opt for the authentic French Bistro Style for a more intimate affair. Try the Paris Rattan Dining Table And Chair set to stage the event. Or, you could gather together your own dining furniture, cover it with a beautiful table runner/cloth and still have a fabulous time!

Garden Lighting

When the sun is beginning to set, what better way to compliment the golden glow than by adding candles into the summery mix? Soft and relaxed lighting is key to create a snug feeling during the eating experience, by enveloping you in a gentle light. As well as this, candles provide added relief to your eyes, which is perfect after a long day of strain; helping to relax you and your guests. Placing candles is very easily done, as they look good anywhere! Why not stand them along the middle of the table? They would look stunning in these unusual Birch Wood And Glass Candle Holders- adding a touch of romance.

Vases and Flowers on the Table

No table, whether inside or out, is complete without flowers. The aesthetically pleasing appearance of the displays, combined with floral scents creates a beautiful backdrop to the main focus… food! As well as this, the arrangements communicate the decorative undercurrents which dominate throughout the eating experience. Reflect the colours or origin of food in the flowers you choose, in a beautiful yet simple vase. Our Designer Round Glassware Vase would do the job perfectly. You could place wild flowers, or an assortment of flower cuttings from the allotment in these wonderful accessories.

These Glass Bud Vases, create a vintage feel- place one large display in the centre of your table, then delicately run other flowers between the serve ware. This keeps the decorative notes present but subtle.

Tableware for Delicious Food

The central feature of Alfresco dining is the relaxed atmosphere when eating food that can be shared and combined to provide a lengthened eating experience in the comfort of the fresh outdoors. However, to achieve that sublimity, it is important to present the food in serving bowls and platters, to allow for an easy, low-key ambience; if your guests want more, they can get more! Here at DesRes Home, we have created our ideal menu, with chic ideas as to how it could be served to guests. Have a read through and see what you think…

You could begin the meal with artisan breads, like a parmesan and sundried tomato loaf, coupled with infused olive oil (basil/chili oil) and a sweet/tangy balsamic vinegar. This exquisite starter would look stunning laid out on an Oak Platter with the oils and vinegars in a Condiment Set.

These high-quality Oak Paddle Boards allow all-important access to an antipasto of olives, cured meats, cheeses and fresh figs, as well as roasted vegetables, pickles, condiments and chutneys. Giving your guests the opportunity to get firsts, seconds and thirds without an awkward atmosphere will definitely leave you at the top of the “hostess with the mostest” leaderboard!

Finish off the meal with a summer fruit desert (berry pavlova anyone?) or a DIY ice cream sundae with separate components placed in different bowls- like these stunning Glassware Serving Bowls. Strawberries in one, different flavours of ice creams in another, and a homemade chocolate sauce in a third! Or you could indulge in some grilled, sweet peaches with a vanilla cream which is served in one of these breathtaking, large Decorative Glass Bowls.

So, there we have it, four simple points to think about when Alfresco dining using beautiful home accessories. Simple, elegant, easy and sophisticated.
